Errata

These Errata refer to some but not all issues of Weaver's Craft. The corrections were included whenever an issue was reprinted.

"Trust, but Verify—always a good policy."

Issue 6 Volume 1 No 6 December/January 2001 Weaving and Fulling Wool

Page 14: The Breakers Scarf

The treadling should be:

Issue 11 Volume 3 No 1 Spring 2002 Complementary Plain Weave

I copied information about the selvedges from the warp-face projects into the balanced projects by mistake. The text should read:

Page 8: right column:

Weaving: ...(place 5 ends in the dent rather than 4).

Page 12: center column:

Weaving: ...(place 5 ends in the dent rather than 4).

Page 15: left column:

Weaving: ... there will be 3 ends in the dent rather than 4 (the last dent on the left has 2 ends in the dent).

Issue 16 Volume 5 No 1 Spring 2004 Monk's Belt and Bias Cloth Strips

Page 10: Puffy Tea Cozy and Striped Napkins

Tiny error: The Total Warp Ends should be 398 (not 402).

Issue 17 Twill and Basket Weave Combined

Page 8:

Under Weaving: Some copies should say "Start the shuttle at the left side to catch both selvedges."

Page 10:

Some copies need a Warp Color Order for Twill Mosaic Towels.

Page 12:

In some copies, the threading draft has a few ends of shaft 3 shown on the wrong line.

Issue 19 Log Cabin and Where It Leads

Page 6: Bamboo Shoots Rep Placemats

Tiny error: The Warp Color Order should end with 1 dark blue-green (not 1 light green).

Issue 20 Danish Medallion and Accents for Plain Weave

Page 6: Spring Flowers Towels

At the bottom of the left column, the last line should read
…2 1/2" raspberry, 2" black-edged white, 2 1/2" green plus 1 1/4" hem in green.

Issue 23 Barleycorn

Proofreader was loafing.

This issue has several errors due to last-minute changes to align selvedge threadings between projects. Though most of them are small, corrections will make your weaving go more smoothly.

Page 2:

In the tie-up of the draft, two treadles are the same by mistake—the right-hand treadle of the pair should lift shafts 2 and 3.

Correctd tie-up graph

Page 3:

Photo caption at left should end . . . on the right, the back of the fabric shows the same pattern in warp floats. (not weft floats)

Page 5: Special Selvedges for Barleycorn

The end of the third paragraph should read . . . add a tie from shaft 5 to each of the three pattern treadles lifting shafts 3-4, shafts 2-4, and shafts 2-3, as well as the tabby treadle lifting shafts 2-3-4. These treadles alternate with the tabby treadle lifting only shaft 1.

Page 6: Yellow Barleycorn Mats or Towels

Total Warp Ends should be 231 (not 229) and the Heddle Count near the draft should show 32 ends on shaft 3 for a total of 231 ends.

Page 10: Blue Barleycorn Mats or Towels

In the Complete Threading Draft, the top section of the draft that continues to the end is missing a warp end on shaft 1.

Coomplete threading graph

Profile Treadling draft: The treadling sequence as printed is preferable to the simplified version shown below, which matches the project photo on page 11.

Simplified Profile Treadling

Page 12: Wool Barleycorn Throw

First paragraph should read . . . For a larger throw about 40" wide by 60" long plus fringe, use the threading draft for Blue Barleycorn Mats or Towels on page 10, but use 7 repeats (instead of 6) and omit the C block (4, 1, 4, 1) at each end of the threading draft for a total of 479 ends. Make a warp 3 yds long, sley it 48" in the reed, and weave about 75".

Profile Treadling draft: The treadling sequence as printed is preferable to the simplified version shown below, which matches the project photo on page 13.

Issue 26 How to Turn a Draft

Page 4: Holiday Runner

The tie-up weaves the fabric wrong side up. Use this tie-up instead.

Also, in the Heddle Count near the draft, the number of ends on shafts 3 and 4 are switched.

Page 12: Cameo Napkins

The treadling for the Band should start and end with 2 shots lifting shafts 2-3, 2 shots lifting shafts 3-4 (not 1-2).

Issue 27 Baby Blankets

Page 8: Atwater's Basket Weave Baby Blanket

Under Variations: The easiest way to change the size of the blanket it to use a multiple of 18, the number of ends in one threading repeat.

Issue 28 Swivel, Petit Point, & Related Laces

Page 6: Wine Bottle Holder

The Hoosier lace section of the treadling sequence should have Gs and not Ps. Use lime green weft only.

Gs replace Ps

Page 15:

At the top of the left column, which is continued from page 10, the first sentence should end with
